Although I had some mighty fun accompaniments to play on Sunday afternoon’s concert,  my favorite piece was actually a gentle a cappella piece by Rene Clausen called “Prayer” which I had never heard or even heard of before we began rehearsals.  The text is a prayer by Mother Teresa.

Help me.

Help me spread Your fragrance wherever I go.

Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.

Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly

that my life may be only a radiance of Yours.

Shine through me and be so in me

that every soul I know will feel Your presence in my soul.

Let them look up and see no longer me,

but only You.

It is all but impossible to adequately express what it felt like to sing this song for Mr. Noble. . . because for most of us there is no one who embodies the truth of these words more than he does.   And to have him leading the choir through this piece was a truly holy experience- as we rehearsed it together and even more so as we sang it Sunday afternoon. It was one of those very rare moments when you felt like you were in the presence of TRUTH – the kind that tingles right down to your toes – the kind that makes the rest of the world stop spinning for a few moments.
