I can’t tell you how much this means to me, Greg. I asked Kathy if she would sing this at my dad’s funeral. He really loved Kathy’s voice. She wasn’t able to, so Tom and I sang it, once in German, once in English. This was my Dad’s favorite hymn that his Grandmother sang to him when he was little. My Dad went to old Carthage and I went to new Carthage. I still,to this day, could picture my dad’s gramma welcoming him into heaven with this song, and I will never know how I made it through the whole verse at his funeral.
What a beautiful story, Jeannie. I appreciate you sharing it with me. And I’m glad you found the strength to sing for your dad’s funeral. And what a lovely piece to sing- this hymn says so much about why Christ came into this world. Blessings to you and yours in this season of joy. GB
