I’m about to embark on a little trip to Decorah, Iowa – to participate in something called the Weston Noble Alumni Choir – or something like that.   This is the first time I am part of this, and I am excited. . . especially because they are  going to be doing my Amazing Grace for their concert Friday night.  Going to Decorah also means the chance to see Randi & Matt & the kids-  and what will make the week even better is that Kathy and her dad will be joining me later in the week, once she is done with her grad school class.  Her dad has always wanted to see Decorah, and finally this is his chance.

One thing we didn’t want to do is end up in Decorah with two cars – so I am being driven to Decorah by a former voice student of mine from Carthage, Jamie Wilson – who has such fond memories of singing under Mr. Noble at Carthage and seized the opportunity to be able to greet him again.  So Jamie drove up last night – saw Honky Tonk Angels at the RTG – and now is my chauffeur all the way to Decorah.   It feels a little bit like some variation on an old movie called “Thelma and Louise” – although I think that little cross country road trip ended with those spirited ladies driving themselves over a cliff and to their deaths….. and I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen with this trip, unless Jamie has plans of which I’m not aware.   Anyway,  this is all you’ll hear from me for a few days. . . but when I return I trust I will have some fun stories to share about my time in Decorah – and I also need to tell you about the rather immense task of emptying my Carthage office so it can be recarpeted and repainted this week.   (The building of the Great Pyramids comes to mind as an undertaking of similar scope.)  But that will have to wait because it’s already 3 and I want us in Decorah in time to indulge in some Mabe’s Pizza.  So au revoir.

p.s.-   Keep my wife out of the taverns while I’m gone, if you can.   🙂
