Kathy’s dad showed us a neat little notebook that he found the other day in his garage – a small three-ring binder in which Kathy’s mom had carefully written down some interesting essays and sayings she had found – and she even put a table of contents in at the front.  It is wonderful to read and I look forward to exploring it more slowly and carefully when there’s time.  One saying jumped out at me on this Easter weekend:

Religious Faith is meant to be BREAD for daily life, not CAKE for special occasions.

Amen to that.  And as irritated as I get with those who show up in church on Easter for the first time since Christmas (or even last Easter) this saying helps me to feel more regret and sympathy than irritation.

Here’s another from the notebook that I like very much:

Happiness is like potato salad – Share it with others and it becomes a picnic!

Today there will be no picnics in Racine (our temp is colder than it was on Christmas Day, believe it or not)  but sitting down with Polly, Mark and Bob will be picnic enough – – – and I hope later to speak with at least some of my family via telephone.

Wishing you a joyful Easter, everyone.    GB
