A beautiful song by a very talented Luther graduate named Ben Larson.
Ben lost his life in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti – but not before creating all kinds of moving songs like this one.
I was asked by Ben’s parents to create a choral arrangement of “Hush.” I hope I have managed to retain the simple beauty of the song as Ben himself sang it.
My thanks to Jack Haggett, Alex Heiting, and Christopher Wojciechowicz (three Carthage students)
for helping me make this recording.
Listening to this song, I cannot help but feel my dad’s presence watching over me from Heaven above, as if he’s telling me that he’ll always be with me in my heart and soul. The lyrics fit the bill perfectly: “So hush, my child, I’ll bring you peace…” (You can correct me, Greg, if I’m wrong on the lyrics.)
May we dedicate this recording not only to Ben Larson’s memory, but to the memory of all of our loved ones who have gone before us. May they rest in peace in the Glory of the Lord.
What a lovely thought, Kyle. I am glad that the song has brought you comfort.
