This is a really precious recording I made 7 or 8 years ago- when my nephew Kaj was quite young. My sister Randi has always loved the Gian Carlo Menotti opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” – as do I – and she managed to get all three of her children, including young Kaj, excited about it as well. Here are Kaj and Randi singing several passages from the opera, with little Kaj doing an amazing job of remembering at least the general contours of Menotti’s complicated melodic lines. One of the reasons I felt like dusting off this old recording is because Kaj’s voice recently changed- and while his lower voice is quite handsome, I find myself wistfully recalling the delightful purity and sweetness of his voice when it was unchanged.
