Here is a fun one from the Morning Show archives:  my conversation with comedian Bob Newhart.  I would have loved to have talked with him all day long,  but even a few minutes with such a legend was a great pleasure and honor.   One side note:   After we finished the interview,  I thanked Mr. Newhart- and then I said that there was one small error in his book when he tried to quote from an episode which happened to be one of my favorites:  where Bob goes on a TV talk show that he expects to be a very pleasant experience, only to be ambushed by the host, who pummels him with one antagonistic question after another.  As he slinks off of the set,  a nun walks on to it,  and he wishes her luck.  When Bob returns to the office the next day,  one of the messages his secretary gives him is from the nun,  wondering if he wants to go 50/50 with her on a hit man.   Hilarious.  But in his book,  Mr. Newhart completely misremembered the punch line, saying that it was Bob who asked the Nun that same question.  In retrospect I wish I hadn’t brought it up because I’m not sure what good it did.  Fortunately, he was very gracious and seemed to appreciate the comment- and seemed impressed that I would remember something like that so clearly.

The official Morning Show archive is housed on the station’s website,  wgtd.org.  It is there that you can listen to nearly all of the Morning Show interviews, in their entirety,  that have aired over the last several years.
