I regret that my former student Nic Sluss-Rodionov never had the chance to perform the role of Leporello in a full performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.  He would have been absolutely perfect in the part.

Leporello is Don Giovanni’s right hand man – and in this so-called Catalog Aria,  he is describing to Donna Elvira (one of Don Giovanni’s latest conquests, whom he has cast aside)  the vast multitude of women with whom his master has had dalliances – women of every conceivable shape and size and color and coming from various countries.

I love imagining this performance being done with full orchestra, with Nic on an opera stage.
