My song “Strength” was originally composed for SATB – but for my faculty recital in the fall of 2014, I decided to re-arrange it for men’s voices so the guys in my voice student could join me – and that song proved to be perhaps the most exciting moment on the recital. For as well as this piece works in its original voicing, there are ways in which I think it’s even more effective in TTBB.
Here is a photo of my voice students joining me on the recital, which was performed the first full weekend of the school year – meaning that we had almost no rehearsal time at all. This performance is as polished as it is only because of their impressive skills as well as their commitment to making it happen. I thank them all.
