If you were to go into our iPhoto and look at the pictures which were downloaded yesterday,  you would find 79 photos – I said 79 photos – which my wife took of our niece Lorelai in which she is standing in her Grandpa Gall’s living room and flinging a stuffed Kermit the Frog into the air.   I wasn’t there –  I was busy with Beauty and the Beast rehearsal – but I understand that it was quite an entertaining spectacle  which left my wife and Polly doubled over in hysterical laughter, although not so much that my wife’s ability to operate the camera was compromised.   I guess part of what made it funny was just the spontaneity of it – but also the fact that when you look at Kermit’s face,  you would swear that he’s screaming in terror.  .  . and the combination of that look of terror on Kermit’s face and the look of glee on Lorelai’s face makes this look like a scene from “The Omen: The Demon Princess.”  (Although this particular shot seems to catch Kermit actually enjoying himself.)    One also sees in this pictures some impressive concentration and focus on Lorelai’s part, as though she were hoping to qualify for the olympics in the as-yet-unsanctioned sport of Frog Flinging.   Actually,  she looks a lot like she’s Sergei Grinkov flinging Ekaterina Gordeeva in one of their signature throw jumps, although I suspect that Kermit doesn’t manage to land the jumps quite as gracefully as Gordeeva – – –  just a guess.

I don’t know exactly what prompted this little escapade, but it makes me glad all over again that this fun-loving and creative little girl is in our life. . .   if for no other reason than for the sheer unpredictability of it all.  You just never know how Lorelai is going to liven up the party.

pictured:  Lorelai and Kermit, with Polly in the background. This was at a birthday party for Grandpa Gall.   I’m not sure where he and Mark were at the time – off talking about socket wrenches? – but I hope they got to see some of this.
