Good Question

The Beijing Olympics have been amazing, thus far - with the triumphs of Michael Phelps and Men’s Gymnastics giving U.S. fans something to cheer about . . .  but I have to take a moment and express my mounting frustration with something we have to suffer through, again and again, in televised events like the

It’s time for a report from the Grace Institute in Sinsinawa, WI - right outside of Dubuque - where I am doing my sixth stint as worship and music leader.  The Grace Institute is an extended retreat experience for Lutheran clergy and laity.  Here’s how it works- A group of just under 50 gathers for

Joy Ride

I wanted to share this photo which I took the other day right after Kathy and I picked up Bobbi and Ellie from the groomer.   (It takes two of us to do the pickup-  one of us with both dogs is just a little too scary when we’re in an unfamiliar neighborhood and no Invisible

Different Drummers

This morning as I got ready to mow the lawn - O joy, O rapture - Kathy told me that before I did that she had something quick to show me.   She ushered me to the couch,  took out the remote,  fired up TIVO,  and the next thing I know,  I am watching a moment

Way Too Close for Comfort

Racine’s Chamber of Commerce will not be wild about this blog entry (although I’m pretty sure they’re not frequent visitors to my website, so I’m not losing sleep over this) but I need to share this story-  even though it paints a less than rosy picture of the city which my wife and I call

Small World

There were so many neat things about Mari Drummer’s wedding- the beauty of the setting,  the gathering of so neat people (many of whom Kathy and I knew),  and the special fun of being there with the Barrows, with whom we frolicked in the Dells . . . and then there was an amazing moment

In the Garden

We will not soon forget the beautiful wedding which occurred this past weekend in Baraboo, Wisconsin in the backyard of our good friends from Holy Communion,  Dal and Jackie Drummer.   Although they live in South Milwaukee, where they have both been public school teachers for many years,  their second home is in picturesque Baraboo (where
