Will wonders never cease.  My father-in-law is finally feeling better tonight, thanks to some sort of space age bombardment which (they hope) has pulverized the 9 mm kidney stone that has been making him so miserable for the last few days.  They will x-ray him tomorrow to make sure that the deed has been done, but so far things look promising.  It was nice just now to speak with him for a few moments.  His voice was quite gravelly, thanks to the tube they put down his throat- but otherwise he seemed like his old self.  And since I was home sick with a terrible cold today, our conversation was a veritable symphony of sonorous splendor. . .

My wife gets daughter of the year honors.  She has spent a lot of time with her father over the last few days, and was at the hospital all day long today. And then she comes home to her invalid husband with triple pneumonia.  Not fun.  I’m hoping that some easy, uncomplicated days are ahead for Kathy.  Maybe in the year 2012.
