This film is not quite as well known as the original and it doesn’t star Susan Sarandon.   But who needs her when you have as entertaining a threesome as Kathy Berg, Val Conner, and Kate Potter Barrow?   They are off on a little road trip together as the summer winds down – and it will actually be a quintet thanks to Kate’s daughter Anneka and Kate’s mom Mim.  They head first to Saint Louis to visit Kathy’s Aunt Linda – who always knows how to show her visitors a good time – and then on to Branson, Missouri for several days of fun.

I have not been to Branson,  and it’s going to take some fast talking from someone to convince me to visit the place.  I could be wrong but it seems like a place that promises entertainers you’ve actually heard of like Andy Williams or alums of the Lawrence Welk Show- but when you get there  you end up with some violinist named Tokishoko Moshimostoko instead.  And they might be very very good, but I don’t see the point of traveling all the way to Branson to see musicians you’ve never heard of.  On the other hand, there seem to be more and more people – including people whose taste and judgment I trust – who absolutely swear that the place is fantastic,  so this may be one of those cases where I have jumped to a conclusion which I’m reluctant to renounce and may have to rethink someday.  So I’m already bracing myself for my wife’s fervent lobbying upon her return.  Actually, if she says I would like Branson, that’s all I need to hear.  The woman knows me through and through and she knows what I like.

And frankly, I’m sure that regardless of whether Branson is a bonanza or a bust, these three dear friends will have a wonderful time together. . . and I envy them for the fun they’re going to have, even if it IS in Branson.   : – )  Fun is fun, wherever you can have it.  And it’s a blessing not to be taken for granted.
